I think he left Sandcreek after the 62-63 year. My fondest memory was from a pep rally in early 62 when we were 19-1 and preparing for the sectional. During the "blue&White" cheer the boys cheered on blue and the girls on white or vice versa and Joe Taylor would cheer on the wrong one. Mr Zeigler warned him a couple of times and after about the 3rd warning, he walked past Joe and pulled a starter pistol out and shot him. Of course we were all shocked until Joe jumped up and we all realized it was an act. Imagine what would happen today if that happened!!!

Ok dinger here I go with a few facts of Wayne "Zig" Ziegler as a coach of the Clarksburg Knights. Smiler

Coach yes Coach Ziegler coached three year at Clarksburg the 1950-51,51-52, AND 52-53 seaon.

Ziegler best season was the 1951- 52 season with a 10-11 record.

I'm trying to get more information on Wayne but this man was not that much older then the boys he Coached. Smiler

He was my principal at Sandcreek until my Senior year. I only knew him as "Mr. Ziegler" and he was a good principal. I did not know until I read his obituary that he was from Clarksburg. I didn't even know his name was Howard. We knew him as Wayne.

dinger, I'm waiting on a email that will give a brief history on Howard Wayne "Zig" Ziegler, 81, Wink

Indiana Elite claims 16s title at HoopFest
Despite missing its two highest-ranked players because of injuries, Indiana Elite/Team Indiana won the 16s gold title in rather easy fashion.

Aaric Armstead and Tyrone Sherman of Chicago, Kenny Kaminski (photo) of Ohio scored 20 points apiece in the title game as the Indiana Elite team downed the Michigan Mustangs 74-57.

"These guys have responded very well," coach Bil Duany said. "They kind of came together as a team and we still have some good guys that can play on this team."

Foreign big men Peter Jurkin and Obij Aget were defensive forces the entire event. The same Indiana team lost in the championship game of the adidas Invitational last week in Indianapolis.

The team was missing one of the top juniors in Indiana in guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (knee) and top-15 big man Hanner Perea (ankle).

Bryn Forbes of East Lansing, Mich., had 21 and former Trinity guard Chris Harrison-Docks added 14 for the Mustangs.
